I Was Date Raped

I was date raped 4 years ago and it still haunts me.

CONSIDER THIS

  • Having any part of yourself violated is hard to overcome in any respect. This was never your fault and reaching out for help is a very brave thing to do.
  • If you have not already maybe you can take time to find a therapist or a support group to help your process your mixed feelings about what occurred. Also to help you feel not alone. Call the national sexual assault hotline at (800) 656-HOPE. Rape crisis calls are anonymous and confidential.
  • Taking care of yourself is number one priority by doing things that you like to do, exercise, going to a spa treatment, watching a funny movie, reading a favorite book, hanging out with friends, etc.
  • It is important that you find a support system during this time to help you recover from the traumatic experience. If you can talk with someone you trust while you go through the process of healing yourself it is good to do so.

HELP YOURSELF

  • What would happen if you contacted a therapist or a support group to help you on the path of healing?
  • What are some things that you can do to help take care of yourself right now?
  • Who are some people that can be apart of your support system as you start healing?
